Chieko Okazaki dies at age 84

Sister Chieko N. Okazaki, a former counselor in the Relief Society general presidency, died Aug. 1, 2011, of congestive heart failure in Salt Lake City. She was 84.

Sister Okazaki served as first counselor to Sister Elaine L. Jack, Relief Society general president, from 1990 to 1997.

She also served on the Primary General Board and on the Young Women General Board.

She was an educator, author and a popular speaker.

Sister Okazaki and her late husband, Edward Okazaki, were parents of two children and grandparents of four.
