The Mormon Tabernacle Choir with the Orchestra at Temple Square and renowned Welsh bass-baritone Bryn Terfel are part of what Deutsche Grammohone officials call their most ambitious studio album ever made in the recording label's 115-history.
The album, "Homeward Bound," has just been released, reuniting the choir and orchestra with Mr. Terfel, who was featured on the choir's Christmas spectacular at the Church Conference Center in Salt Lake City 10 years ago.
This marks the first time the choir has recorded with the prestigious label.
The new ablum, recorded over five days in the Salt Lake Tabernacle, features songs, hymns, spirituals and popular classics. Among the selections are new songs, many arranged by the choir's music director, Mack Wilberg.
British Royal Wedding composer Paul Mealor wrote one of the selections, "Faith's Call," especially for Mr. Terfel and the choir.
More information about the new release may be found on the choir's website, www.mormontabernaclechoir.org.
