New temple president

A new temple president and his wife have been called by the First Presidency.

Jerry R. Boggess, 70, Cypress Creek Branch, Pompano Beach Florida Stake, called as president of the new Fort Lauderdale Florida Temple. President Boggess’ wife, Portia Stevens Boggess, will serve as temple matron. He serves as a branch president. He has served as president of the Nigeria Enugu Mission, twice as a senior couple missionary, stake president, bishop, high councilor and temple ordinance worker. Retired executive vice president of Tyco Industries, he was born in Murray, Utah, to Reid Leon and Clara Amelia Thomson Boggess.

Sister Boggess serves as a branch Relief Society counselor. She previously served with her husband as he presided over the Nigeria Enugu Mission, and twice as a senior couple missionary. She has served as stake Relief Society president’s counselor, ward Relief Society, Young Women and Primary president, and temple ordinance worker. She was born in Fillmore, Utah, to Arnold Yardley and Claris Anna Mortenson Stevens.
