Public open house: Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 through Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, excluding Sundays

Cultural celebration: Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Discovery Park

Dedication: By President Thomas S. Monson, Sunday, March 2, 2014, three sessions

Property size: 15.4 acres

Building floor area: 85,326 square feet, a 2.820-square-foot ancillary building was also constructed as part of the project.

Dimensions: 193 feet by 165 feet; an angel Moroni statue was put in place on May 15, 2012, and stands at 195 feet on the center spire.

Exterior: Light cream colored precast concrete with white quartz.

Interior: Motif: Agave; color scheme: blue, green, earth tone; art glass: designed and constructed by Holdman Studios, Lehi, Utah, based on the Agave plant and flower; murals: Howard Lyon, Queen Creek, Ariz.; interior stone: limestone (honey gold light, tiberias gold, basar lux); woods: eucalyptus, white oak, painted hardwoods; chandeliers: Swarovski Architectural Lighting.

Contractor: Okland Construction Company, Tempe, Ariz.

The Gilbert Arizona Temple is the 142nd operating temple of the Church’s 142 temples worldwide. It is one of four temples in Arizona, with others in Mesa, Snowflake and Gila Valley. A fifth temple in Phoenix is currently under construction and a sixth temple, in Tucson, is in the planning and approval phase.

The temple district covers 26 stakes in and around the Gilbert, Ariz., area. There are approximately 100,000 members in the temple district.
