Six temple presidents and their wives have been called by the First Presidency. They will begin their service later this year.
Luis Gerardo Chaverri Madrigal, 65, Guápiles Ward, San José Costa Rica Los Yoses Stake, called as president of the San Salvador El Salvador Temple, succeeding President Walter R. Petersen. President Chaverri’s wife, Julieta de los Ángeles León Vargas de Chaverri, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister Eileen M. Petersen. Currently a stake high councilor and temple ordinance worker in the San José Costa Rica Temple, he has served as an Area Seventy, president of the Honduras Tegucigalpa Mission, stake president, district president, bishop and branch president. A retired accountant and auditor, he was born in Guápiles Limón, Costa Rica, to Claudio Chaverri Picado and María Cristina Madrigal Camacho.
Sister Chaverri serves as a temple ordinance worker. She served with her husband as he presided over the Honduras Tegucigalpa Mission, and has served in a stake Relief Society presidency, as ward Relief Society president, ward Young Women president and branch Relief Society president. She was born in Turrialba, Cartago, Costa Rica, to Julio León Vílchez and Erólida Vargas Calderón.
Heber Omar Díaz Outes, 71, Carrasco Ward, Montevideo Uruguay East Stake, called as president of the Asunción Paraguay Temple, succeeding President Stephen G. Boyden. President Díaz’ wife, Gloria Estela Tempone Díaz, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister Patricia S. Boyden. Currently serving as first counselor in the Montevideo Uruguay Temple presidency, he has served as an Area Seventy, president of the Bolivia La Paz Mission, stake president, district president, bishop and branch president. A retired human resource manager for a furniture factory, he was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, to Pascual Díaz and Virginia Outes Micaela.
Sister Díaz serves as an assistant to the matron of the Montevideo Uruguay Temple. She served with her husband as he presided over the Bolivia La Paz Mission and has served as stake Primary president, in a district Young Women presidency, ward Young Women president and in a ward Primary presidency. She was born in San José, Uruguay, to Raul Pio Tempone and Gloria Iris López.
David Ray Labrum, 64, Roosevelt 5th Ward, Roosevelt Utah Stake, called as president of the Vernal Utah Temple, succeeding President Lamont W. Moon. President Labrum’s wife, Shanna Lee Hamblin Labrum, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister Gay Moon. Currently a stake Sunday School president and a sealer in the Vernal Utah Temple, he has served as president of the Philippines Quezon City Mission, stake president, bishop, branch president and high councilor. Owner of L & L Motor Company, he was born in Roosevelt, Utah, to Lynn and Miriam Alice Labrum.
Sister Labrum serves in a stake Young Women presidency, as a ward Family History consultant and ward organist. She served with her husband as he presided over the Philippines Quezon City Mission and served as ward Relief Society president, ward Primary president, ward public affairs director and temple ordinance worker. She was born in Kanab, Utah, to Antone Robinson and Ladonna Chamberlain Ogden Hamblin.
Russell Trent Osguthorpe, 67, Oak Hills 9th Ward, Provo Utah Oak Hills Stake, called as president of the Bismarck North Dakota Temple, succeeding President Joel C. Smith. President Osguthorpe’s wife, Lola Amelia Sedgwick Osguthorpe, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister Marni E. Smith. Recently released as Sunday School general president, he has served as an Area Seventy, president of the South Dakota Rapid City Mission, stake president, branch president, stake Young Men president and Tabernacle Choir member. Former Center for Teaching and Learning Director and professor at Brigham Young University, he was born in Salt Lake City to Wesley Trenton and Iva LaRue Russell Osguthorpe.
Sister Osguthorpe serves as a ward choir director and Primary music leader. She served with her husband as he presided over the South Dakota Rapid City Mission and has served as stake Young Women camp director, in a ward Relief Society presidency, as ward Young Women president, ward Primary president and Tabernacle Choir member. She was born in Riverside, Calif., to Joel Garrett and Lola Mae Hansen Sedgwick.
William Frederick Reynolds, 70, La Canada 1st Ward, La Crescenta California Stake, called as president of the Los Angeles California Temple, succeeding President R. Randall Huff. President Reynolds’ wife, Lani Petersen Reynolds, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister Kay T. Huff. Currently serving as a priests quorum adviser, he has served as an Area Seventy, stake president, bishop and ward Young Men president. A urologist, he was born in Elkhart, Ind., to Howard Arthur and Helen Lucile Reynolds.
Sister Reynolds serves as a ward music chairman. She has served in a stake Primary presidency, in a ward Relief Society presidency, ward Primary president and ward organist. She was born in La Jolla, Calif., to Philip Alma and Agnes Kathleen Brimhall Petersen.
Mario Rojas Leguizamo, 70, Tierralinda Ward, Bogotá Colombia Stake, called as president of the Bogotá Colombia Temple, succeeding President Garth J. Wakefield. President Rojas’ wife, Aura Bethsy Castañeda Rojas de Rojas, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister Kay Lynn B. Wakefield. Currently serving as a patriarch and a sealer in the Bogotá Colombia Temple, he has served as first and second counselor in the Bogotá Colombia Temple presidency, stake president, bishop, branch president and high councilor. A retired human resource coordinator for the Church, he was born in Neiva, Huila, Colombia, to Mario Rojas Trujillo and Irene Leguizamo.
Sister Rojas serves as a Primary teacher. She has served as an assistant to the matron of the Bogotá Colombia Temple, stake Relief Society and Primary president, and ward Young Women and Primary president. She was born in Bogotá, Colombia, to Luis Demetrio Castañeda and Aura Rojas.
