Youth around the world are invited to participate in a live, interactive question-and-answer session with an Apostle. Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife, Sister Susan Bednar, will join with the youth of the Church in the third installment of the “Face to Face” social media event.
This event follows two successful “Face to Face” events featuring David Archuleta and Lindsey Stirling, both musicians and returned missionaries. These events, viewed by thousands worldwide, featured the two guests answering questions sent in by youth.
This time around, “Face to Face” will give youth a rare opportunity to connect with an apostle of the Lord and his wife. Youth are encouraged to participate in this event by sending in questions they have for Elder and Sister Bednar. Youth can submit questions both before and during the event; they can also follow the conversation with #ldsface2face.
Parents and youth leaders can use this event as a family or Mutual night activity. Youth are encouraged to invite their friends.
“I am particularly excited about participating in this event with my wife, Susan,” said Elder Bednar. “Many of our youth have probably never met or heard from Sister Bednar. To them I would simply say, ‘You are in for a real treat.’ Susan is a woman of remarkable faith, humility and spiritual depth.”
Youth are encouraged to join in the interactive chat on May 12 at 6 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time, by watching the live stream on LDS.org, the LDS Youth Facebook page, the Youth Activities site, or on the Mormon Channel’s YouTube page. The broadcast will also be translated live in 10 languages.
“We live in a day of marvelous inventions,” said Sister Bednar. “I am thrilled that we will be able to have a two-way conversation with youth around the world. We are excited to hear from and share testimonies with them.”
Elder and Sister Bednar hope to help youth find answers to their questions — even those they may not have time to answer during the event — by inviting the Spirit and showing them how to ask and receive answers to inspired questions.
“We are not approaching this event with a particular theme in mind or message we want to convey, other than this: inspired questions lead to inspired answers,” Elder Bednar said. “We encourage the youth, as they prepare for this event, to seek the Spirit’s guidance in pondering what questions they might ask. As we have the Spirit with us, we will all learn together.”
Both Elder and Sister Bednar look forward to talking with the youth at this event. “Sister Bednar and I love to be with the youth of the Church,” Elder Bednar said. “We are inspired and uplifted by their purity, courage and honest desires to do and be good. We look forward to spending time with them and seeking together to receive instruction by the power of the Holy Ghost.”
