The First Presidency has called the following new temple presidents and matrons. They will begin their service later this year.
Blaine Jay Bushman, 69, Midland 3rd Ward, Odessa Texas Stake, called as president of the Lubbock Texas Temple, succeeding President Steven J. Vore. President Bushman’s wife, Margene Bingham Bushman, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister Laurel D. Vore. He is a Sunday School teacher and temple ordinance worker, and is a former president of the Wyoming Mormon Trail Mission, stake president’s counselor and bishop. Retired owner of a trailer company, he was born in Winslow, Arizona, to Elwin Ewing Bushman and Genevieve Tanner Despain Bushman.
Sister Bushman is a ward missionary and temple ordinance worker, served with her husband as he presided over the Wyoming Mormon Trail Mission and is a former stake Primary president and ward Relief Society president’s counselor. Born in Vernal, Utah, to Victor Lester and Marjor Olson Bingham.
Jaime Mario Calderón Montesdeoca, 58, Urdesa Ward, Guayaquil Ecuador Kennedy Stake, called as president of the Guayaquil Ecuador Temple, succeeding President Jay R. Fuhriman. President Calderón’s wife, Silvia L. Casal de Calderón, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister María J. Fuhriman. He is the first counselor in the Guayaquil Ecuador Temple presidency, and is a former stake president’s counselor, bishop and high councilor. Architect, he was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, to Mario Arnaldo Calderón Coello and Raquel Montesdeoca Loor.
Sister Calderón is an assistant to the matron at the Guayaquil Ecuador Temple, and is a former ward Relief Society president’s counselor, and ward Young Women and Primary president. Born in Guayaquil, Ecuador, to Fernando Hernan Casal Montenegro and Cora Hilda Roldan de Casal.
Jack Sterling Fisher, 68, Flagler Ward, Miami Florida Stake, called as president of the Fort Lauderdale Florida Temple, succeeding President Jerry R. Boggess. President Fisher’s wife, María Mercedes (Mercy) García Fisher, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister Portia S. Boggess. He is the second counselor in the Fort Lauderdale Florida Temple, Sunday School teacher and patriarch, and is a former bishop. Real estate associate broker, he was born in Austin, Texas, to Lewis Ross and Ruth Elizabeth Nichols Fisher.
Sister Fisher serves as an assistant to the matron at the Fort Lauderdale Florida Temple, and is a former stake Relief Society president, stake and ward Primary president, and ward Young Women president. Born in Havana, Cuba, to Manuel Hipolito and Margarita Romero García.
Larry James Larsen, 71, Downey 2nd Ward, Huntington Park California Stake, called as president of the Los Angeles California Temple, succeeding President William F. Reynolds. President Larsen’s wife, Kristie Elmina Burton Larsen, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister Lani P. Reynolds. He is a young single adult advisor, Sunday School teacher, scout committee chairman and temple sealer, and is a former stake president and bishop. Retired computer support administrator, he was born in Lyman, Wyoming, to Ervin Erastus and Gladys Butler Larsen.
Sister Larsen is a young single adult leader and temple ordinance worker and is a former stake and ward Relief Society president, stake Young Women president’s counselor and stake Primary president. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Fielding Garr Lindsay and Larene Toone Burton.
