MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay — Sergio Rubin, the personal biographer for Pope Francis, recently met with and interviewed President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during the prophet's South American ministry tour.
Rubin, the author of "Pope Francis: Conversations with Jorge Bergoglio," told the Church News that leaders need closeness and humanity in order to help others embrace religion.
"Reaching out is very important," Rubin said. "Leaders have to get close to the people to see that religion is an everyday matter."
President Nelson's South American ministry tour consists of stops in Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay and Chile, where he will dedicate the Concepcion Chile Temple — the 18th temple in South America and the second in the country.
