In a new video, Church News photographer Jeffrey Allred talks about what it's like capturing the right moment while traveling with President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during the South American ministry tour.
Trying to show that "human element" in his work, Allred shared how he felt lucky to catch a "slice of life" in two photos as children gathered around the prophet of the Church following a devotional in Asuncion, Paraguay.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been officially organized for 188 years — exactly double the age of President Nelson. When the prophet was born in 1924, there were no members of the Church in South America. Today, there are more than 4 million members living on the continent.
President Nelson just wrapped up his South American ministry tour to Peru, Bolivia, Uruguay, Paraguay and Chile, following the dedication of the Concepcion Chile Temple dedication on Oct. 28.
