The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the call of two General Authority Seventies to begin service later this year as Church Historian and Recorder and Commissioner of the Church Educational System.
Elder LeGrand Curtis Jr. will serve as Church Historian and Recorder, succeeding Elder Steven E. Snow. And Elder Paul V. Johnson will serve as Commissioner of Education, taking the place of Elder Kim B. Clark and returning to a position he previously held.
The new calls are effective Aug. 1, 2019, with Elders Snow and Clark — also General Authority Seventies — to be given emeritus status at the October 2019 general conference.
Elder Curtis currently serves as an assistant executive director of the Church History Department and as a counselor in the Utah Area presidency.
Elder Johnson is currently a member of the Europe Area presidency and served previously as the Commissioner of the Church Education System from 2008 to 2015.
