Lima, Peru, is set to become the first city outside of the United States to have two temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, following the Saturday, June 8, groundbreaking for the Lima Peru Los Olivos Temple.
Elder Enrique R. Falabella, a General Authority Seventy and president of the South America Northwest Area, presided over the groundbreaking and site dedication, said Newsroom.
Elder Falabella told members this groundbreaking will be unforgettable. “There is something special in the temples. As we spend more time in the Lord's house, our life will have greater meaning.”

The Los Olivos temple was announced by President Thomas S. Monson in the Sunday morning session of April 2016 General Conference.
The two operating temples in Peru — Lima Peru Temple (dedicated in 1986) and the Trujillo Peru Temple (dedicated in 2015) — will soon be joined by the Arequipa Peru Temple, which is scheduled to be dedicated on Dec. 15, 2019.
