Video: Watch Elder Gong share his apostolic testimony in new Church video

In a video released on June 12 by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Elder Gerrit W. Gong shared his personal testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Elder Gong was sustained as one of the newest members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles with Elder Ulisses Soares on March 31, 2018.

In the video, Elder Gong testified of the creation of the earth, mankind and the restoration of the gospel to the earth. He said, “Our perspective changes when we know, as I do, that God is our Eternal Father, that Jesus Christ is His Beloved Son and that these two glorified personages appeared to the latter-day Prophet Joseph Smith.”

The purpose of this visit to the Prophet Joseph Smith, he said, was to “restore the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ in order to bless every individual and family.”

Elder Gong shared his belief in the first and second great commandments — to love God and everyone. “As we do, we will feel fulfillment and joy, greater love for and from God and greater love for and from our neighbor,” he said.

The Lord Jesus Christ invites everyone, Elder Gong said, to partake of the fruits of His restored gospel — peace, joy, healing and love. “God’s love is infinite and intimate; it fills the universe and yet is personal to each of us, one by one.”

Sharing his love of temples and the Book of Mormon, Elder Gong said that by making and keeping sacred covenants in holy temples, each person will be able to return to the presence of God and families can be united eternally.
