Church announces open house, dedication dates for Durban South Africa Temple

Open house and dedication dates have been announced for the Durban South Africa Temple.

According to a Newsroom release, a free public open house will be held in 2020 from Wednesday, Jan. 22 through Saturday, Feb.1. People from all religious backgrounds are invited to attend.

The temple will be dedicated in three sessions on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2020, at 9 a.m., noon and 3 p.m. Each session will be broadcast to meetinghouses throughout the temple district.

Additionally, a youth devotional will be broadcast to meetinghouses in the temple district prior to the temple dedication. At the devotional, Church leaders will address the youth.

Before the DR Congo temple dedication, Elder Dale G. Renlund invited youth to dedicate their lives to the Savior. Read more here.

Currently, the Church has 164 operating temples worldwide, with another 15 under construction and 30 more having been announced. Most recently, the Oakland California Temple was rededicated on Sunday, June 16.

The Church dedicated a temple in Africa earlier this year — the Kinshasa Democratic Republic of the Congo Temple on April 14.
