This week on social media, leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints addressed topics including prayer, blessings of living and studying the gospel, how to minister to Primary children and teachers, and the growth of the Church.
In a May 31 Facebook post, Sister Bonnie H. Cordon, Young Women general president, shared her thoughts about a gift she received for her birthday this year — a hand-painted Russian nesting doll of the latter-day prophets. The largest doll features a likeness of President Russell M. Nelson with the smallest doll representing the Prophet Joseph Smith. Sister Cordon likened the size of each doll to the size of the Church, remarking how much membership has grown since Joseph Smith was the president of the Church.
Sister Cordon noted a prophetic statement given by President Nelson — that the Lord will perform His mightiest works and miracles between now and when He comes again.
Sister Cordon said: “These truly are the last days and ... miracles abound. Some are big, some are small, but all are manifestations of a loving and living God!”
In a June 2 Instagram post, Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles testified that answers to prayers will always come — Heavenly Father is listening, and He will answer in His time.
Elder Uchtdorf cautioned: “Casual prayers do not yield sublime answers.”
Elder Gary E. Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles posted May 30 on Instagram about his recent visit to Brazil. He invited followers to do four things to stay strong and faithful in the gospel, and by doing so, each can feel closer to the Lord.
Elder Stevenson promised the Lord “will help you with whatever you face throughout your life.”
Sister Reyna I. Aburto, second counselor of the Relief Society General Presidency, said in a June 2 Facebook post she enjoys studying the words of general conference, especially the blessings President Nelson promised for those who repent and strive to stay on the covenant path. Sister Aburto vowed to try her best to follow the prophet and live worthy of President Nelson’s promised blessings.
In a June 4 Facebook post, Sister Becky Craven, second counselor in the Young Women general presidency, referenced the address she gave in April 2019 general conference. She said she has been trying to be more intentional in allowing the Spirit to help her live the gospel more fully each day.
On June 4, Sister Joy D. Jones, Primary general president, posted on Facebook about what local Primary presidencies should focus on since sharing time is no longer part of the Primary's Sunday meeting schedule. Sister Jones said the answer is to minister.
Sister Jones advised ward Primary presidencies to show love and support to teachers and children as well as attend class time for one-on-one ministering to children.

This week, Sister Lisa L. Harkness, first counselor in the Primary general presidency, posted on Facebook two videos of Primary song and their lyrics. The first song, titled “Baptism,” reminded her of a recent trip to Montgomery, Alabama, where she attended two baptisms. She shared how wonderful it was to see both 8-year-olds make baptismal covenants and receive the Holy Ghost.
The second song, “Gethsemane,” reminded Sister Harkness of an experience when she visited a Primary learning the song for the first time. They watched a video to learn the song, and by the end of the song, the children and adults were singing along and the adults had tears in their eyes.
“We had been taught by the power and witness of children as they sang of the Savior’s love for us!” Sister Harkness said.
In a June 2 Facebook post, Sister Cristina B. Franco, second counselor in the Primary general presidency, shared her feelings about the new “Come, Follow Me” Sunday School curriculum. Answering the concerns of one Primary president who had expressed concern over her lack of responsibility since she no longer teaches sharing time, Sister Franco said the new meeting schedule gives Primary presidencies and teachers a greater opportunity to love and care for children in a new way.
“Sitting next to a child during class shows concern and devotion, dropping by their home for a birthday hug brings joy, and whispering your testimony and love of the Savior to a child — one-on-one — can make a lasting difference in their life.”
