Lone Mountain Nevada Temple

Groundbreaking of the Lone Mountain Nevada Temple

Ground was broken for the Lone Mountain Nevada Temple on Sept. 25, 2025, presided over by Elder Michael A. Dunn, a General Authority Seventy and first counselor in the United States Southwest Area presidency. The ceremony happened 40 years, minus two months, after the groundbreaking of the first house of the Lord in Nevada, also in Las Vegas.

In his dedicatory prayer on the site, Elder Dunn pleaded for a parallel blessing of spiritual preparation upon those who will enter this new house of the Lord. He said, “Help us, as a covenant people, to continue to stand on holy ground, to reach toward heaven even as heaven reaches down to us through this magnificent house of the Lord.”

Architecture and Design of the Lone Mountain Nevada Temple

According to site plans released by the Church on Dec. 12, 2022, the Lone Mountain Nevada Temple will be a three-story building southwest of Hickam Avenue, between North Grand Canyon Drive and Tee Pee Lane. The sacred edifice will stand on a 19.8-acre site in Lone Mountain, Nevada, a suburban neighborhood in Las Vegas named after Lone Mountain — a rocky butte northwest of the city center.

Architectural renderings of the house of the Lord show a white exterior surrounded by several tall, arched windows. A tower with a gold-colored dome stands above the center of the building. Bushes and flowers of various colors adorn the grounds.
