Researchers using the Church History Catalog now can now search and gain access to new records, according to a Church History Library blogpost.
The new records can be divided the following three categories:
- Previously open collections that have been digitized.
- Previously closed collections that are now open for research but not digitized.
- Collections that are both newly opened and digitized.
For example, the newly digitized Returned Missionary Registers, 1898-1913, allows researchers to search for Latter-day Saint missionaries who served during this time period, as well as the missionary’s mission assignment, hometown, date set apart and return date.
Along with missionary information, the newly digitized records include meeting minutes, historical reports, journals, diaries, photographs, maps, autobiographies, correspondence and more.
The newly opened records include church records and manuscript collections.
The release and digitization of new records and collections at the Church History Library is ongoing on the Church History Library blog.
Some collections may require a login to be viewed online. Read the Church History Library’s access policy to determine access to materials and find more information.
