At the first of the year, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles posted on Instagram about the fresh starts that come with a new year. He wrote, “Because of the work of the Almighty God, we have every reason to hope for great blessings and opportunities in the days, months, and years to come.”
Sister Michelle D. Craig, first counselor in the Young Women general presidency, bore her testimony on Facebook. She wrote, “As we rely on the Savior and His grace we’ll be able to move forward with joy and faith — even when things are hard.”
After wishing all a happy new year, Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shared a recent fortune he received from a fortune cookie. “Tomorrow will be an important day for you,” it said.
Elder Uchtdorf tweeted, “Don’t wait for tomorrow to make changes you want to see in your life now. Turn to Jesus Christ today.”
Happy New Year!

I recently opened a fortune cookie that read, “Tomorrow will be an important day for you.” What a great motto for our lives!

Sister Amy A. Wright, first counselor in the Primary general presidency, asked how others hear the voice of the Lord. “Whether it is through a rush of adrenaline, a warm feeling of comfort, or clear thoughts that just make sense, He will speak to you in a way that you will understand.”
On Instagram on Jan. 1, Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles posted a video. He wrote, “As we embark upon this new year, new opportunities, and new obstacles, I would like to share doctrinal principles over the next couple of months from the holy scriptures that we can personally relate to as we seek healing and peace from life’s trials.”
Sister J. Anette Dennis, first counselor in the Relief Society general presidency, said that while Christmas has passed, each day may feel like Christmas through the Savior’s love. “As we daily follow our Savior’s example of love and care for others, even in very small ways, we will remember Him more often and gradually become more and more like Him.”
