Young Men general presidency launches new social media channels

Young Men Worldwide debuted on Instagram and Facebook as a resource for gathering and sharing ideas

The Young Men general presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has created new social media channels to help young men center their lives on Jesus Christ.

Young Men Worldwide launched Jan. 16 on Instagram and on Facebook and quickly gained followers.

The first post was a welcome message from the Young Men general presidency.

“Hello, and welcome to Young Men Worldwide! We are so glad you’re here!

“This will be a place specifically designed for you!

“Whether you’re a teenager or you’re a leader in your ward or branch’s Young Men organization, we want to hear from you. This new account is meant to be a resource for ideas, and we can’t wait to have you share within this worldwide community.

“Whoever you are, and wherever you find yourself on your journey, please know you are loved and known.

“Thank you for being here. Let the adventure begin!”

The new social channels will feature messages from Young Men General President Steven J. Lund; his counselors, Brother Bradley R. Wilcox and Brother Michael T. Nelson; and other general leaders.

“With all the messaging coming across your devices, we are intent upon making Young Men Worldwide a concise, helpful place for youth, their parents and leaders to find ideas and inspiration. We hope to see you here often as we work together to have fun while building lifelong discipleship,” President Lund said.

The social channels will also be a place for conversations and sharing ideas, Brother Wilcox said.

“We realize that young men and their adult leaders do not access information the way that people have in the past. We needed an Instagram account so that the direction and help people need will be easily accessible,” Brother Wilcox said. “Young Men Worldwide will be a place where we can learn how to be disciples of Jesus Christ and mentor each other throughout that process. It will be full of activity ideas, teaching tips and spiritual thoughts from general leaders for the international Church. It will be a place where Saints from everywhere can share best practices and ideas with each other.”

Young Men Worldwide will also serve as a gathering place.

“This will be a place where you can gather with friends worldwide to receive and share the most current information about activities, events and programs,” Brother Nelson said. “You will be inspired as you see examples of young men who are strengthening others in their quorum, ward and home. You will also have the opportunity to share uplifting experiences that have strengthened your testimony.”
