The following new temple president and matron have been called by the First Presidency. They will begin their service in November.
Craig Palmer Burton, 68, Meadows Ward, Murray Utah South Stake, called as president of the Jordan River Utah Temple, succeeding President William A. Schaefermeyer. President Burton’s wife, Linda Kjar Burton, will serve as temple matron, succeeding Sister Sharon B. Schaefermeyer. He is an assistant director of Church Hosting, elders quorum instructor and temple sealer, and a former Korea Seoul West Mission president, stake president, bishop, and Jordan River Utah Temple open house and dedication coordinator. Retired principal of Chartwell Capital Advisors, he was born in Murray, Utah, to Myrl and Jacob Peart Burton Jr.
Sister Burton is an assistant director of Church Hosting and temple ordinance worker, and a former Relief Society general president, mission president companion, Relief Society general board member, Primary general board member, and ward Relief Society and Young Women presidency counselor. She was born in Salt Lake City to Marjorie Castleton and Morris Ashton Kjar.
