“These are stressful times for all of us,” says President Dallin H. Oaks, President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in a social post on May 22. But members of the Church should not get discouraged because “the gospel of Jesus Christ gives us ample reason to be of good cheer.”
President Oaks was one of several leaders of the Church that posted words of encouragement on social media this week.
On May 26, Sister Rebecca L. Craven second counselor in the Young Women general presidency, wrote, “Looking for happiness in things that are not real, are totally counterfeit, faux, or mocked up will never bring real joy.”
She spoke on the importance of embracing the imperfections that members of the Church often find in themselves and others.
On May 20, Relief Society General President Camille N. Johnson, when sharing her experience deciding to marry her husband, invited others to have confidence in the Lord in big decision-making moments. “Jesus Christ offers relief from worries about the future. He can be trusted!”
On May 20, Sunday School General President Mark L. Pace, talked about the impact that Jesus Christ’s triumphant entry had on the people.
“‘All the city was moved’ — how could they not be? The very Son of God had entered Jerusalem, prepared to take upon Himself all the world’s infirmities and then to vanquish death itself.” He then invited readers to respond to the question, “How has Jesus Christ moved you recently?”
On May 23, Sister Tracy Y. Browning, second counselor in the Primary general presidency, talked about finding the Savior daily. After reading from the children’s song, “I Feel My Savior’s Love,” she promised, “When we look for our Savior, we find Him.”
On May 24, Sister Michelle D. Craig, first counselor in the Young Women general presidency, said, “Often we get discouraged by making comparisons in which we always come up short.”
She urged members of the Church to remember that discipleship “comes in all shapes and sizes.” However, regardless of weaknesses, the Lord can do miracles and strengthen His saints to do great things. “We give what we have to Jesus — and He makes up the difference.”
