Elder Gary E. Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles joined Young Women General President Emily Belle Freeman and Young Men General President Steven J. Lund on Instagram Live on Thursday, Jan. 18, to discuss the upcoming worldwide youth discussion on discipleship.
The livestream took place via the Young Women Worldwide, Young Men Worldwide and Elder Stevenson’s Instagram accounts.
The three leaders explained how the worldwide discussion will differ from other broadcasts and how youth can prepare for it.
Youth are invited to gather with their wards, quorums, classes or families on the evening of Jan. 28 to view a prerecorded video broadcast featuring Elder Stevenson as well as youth from Okinawa, Japan; Fiji; and Amsterdam, Netherlands.
Throughout the broadcast, viewers will be invited to pause the video and discuss questions with their groups.
The discussion will focus on the 2024 youth theme found in 3 Nephi 5:13, “I am a disciple of Christ.”
President Freeman said she hopes youth will gather in the same way many did for the worldwide testimony meeting for youth last October — in basements, on beaches, in chapels or at bonfires.
“There is such power in gathering, the Spirit attends, and wonderful things happen,” President Lund said.
Referring to a talk given by Elder Stevenson in the October 2023 general conference, President Lund asked youth to prepare by looking in the mirror and reminding themselves that they are disciples of Jesus Christ
President Freeman encouraged youth to study 3 Nephi 5.
At the conclusion of the Instagram Live, Elder Stevenson bore testimony of Jesus Christ and “His role as Savior and Redeemer.”
