Three choirs provided music for the October 2023 general conference — The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, a multicultural choir from northern Utah and a young single adult choir from Utah County. They sang hymns, songs from the “Children’s Songbook” and other music, including “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing” and “Faith in Every Footstep.”

Saturday morning session

The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square — under the direction of Mack Wilberg and Ryan Murphy, with organists Andrew Unsworth and Richard Elliott — provided the music for the Saturday morning session on Saturday, Sept. 30. Ten singers from eight countries joined the 360-voice Tabernacle Choir during general conference.

‘Music & the Spoken Word’

The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square presented its week “Music & the Spoken Word” broadcast immediately before the Sunday morning session of general conference on Sunday, Oct. 1. The choir and an ensemble from the Orchestra at Temple Square was directed by Mack Wilberg. They accompanied by organists Brian Mathias and Andrew Unsworth and Lloyd Newell presented the “Spoken Word” message.

Former BYU basketball star Jimmer Fredette and his wife, Whitney, demonstrated the ease of preserving memories on FamilySearch by sharing personal stories in a class at RootsTech.

The Emmy and Tony Award-winning performer delighted the audience with personal stories and a selection of songs.

The event included live music, games and a special Puerto Rican family history project.

The late President M. Russell Ballard was featured in a Family Discovery Day video talking about his rich family history and faith at various Church History sites at RootsTech 2024.
