Singers Adassa and Alejandro “Alex” Melecio Figuera and radio talk show host Mariano Osorio will be the guest artists at The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square’s two concerts June 17-18 in the National Auditorium in Mexico City, Mexico.
The concerts will have a format similar to the choir and Orchestra at Temple Square’s Christmas concerts, which feature a guest artist and narrator.

Singer, songwriter and actress Adassa voiced Dolores in Disney’s “Encanto,” including singing in “We Don’t Talk About Bruno.” She is a Golden Globe, Oscar and Grammy winner and is a bilingual Afro-Latina voice actress. The wife and mother of seven was also involved in RootsTech 2023.
“I’m so excited and grateful to be part of this wonderful moment,” Adassa shared on Instagram after the May 27 announcement.

Melecio was a finalist on “Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento,” a reality competition show searching for Latino talent, in 2012. With the support of his wife and five children, the native of Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico, signed with record label Rumor Records and released a debut album in 2015.
“Excited for this concert at the National Auditorium on June 17th along with Adassa, Mariano Osorio and The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square! I can’t wait to be in my beautiful Mexico,” he shared on Facebook.

With more than 30 years of radio experience, Osorio is the longest-running radio talk show host in Mexican history and is a multiplatinum recording article. In 2018, an annual radio streaming study concluded that Mariano was the most influential leader among 18 to 21-year-olds.
“What a joy to have them at the National Auditorium and touch the heart and soul of so many people through their art,” Osorio shared on Facebook.
The two concerts are part of the choir and orchestra’s tour June 13-19 to Mexico City that is the first of a multiyear, multicountry world tour. Tickets have been distributed for the concerts, and the concert on Saturday, June 17, will be nationally broadcasted.
The tour also includes service opportunities for choir and orchestra members and filming a music video.
This is the choir and orchestra’s first tour since the 2018 Classic Coast Tour, including concerts in California, Washington and British Columbia. The 2020 Heritage Tour, which was to include concerts in six European cities, was postponed and ultimately canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The concert marks the first time the choir has been in Mexico for a half-century, since it performed at the National Auditorium during a 1972 area general conference. In 1968, the choir sang at the dedication of the El Centro Escolar Benemerito de Las Americas school, now the site of the Mexico Missionary Training Center.
As part of its pilot programs, the choir will travel more frequently but for shorter periods of time as it works to fulfill the goal of being more visible globally and reaching as many people as possible.
