Video: Hear and see why family history is more than names on a chart

FamilySearch CEO Steve Rockwood says in ‘Remembering at RootsTech 2024′ video that family history helps people remember who they are and connect to others

The world’s largest family history conference helped people from around the globe to discover new ways to connect the branches on their family trees. RootsTech 2024 took place in Salt Lake City from Feb. 29 to March 2 with the theme of “Remember.”

FamilySearch International CEO Steve Rockwood began the conference by speaking about some of his own memories as a young man and how his parents’ words encouraged him to “act better.” In this new Church News video, “Remembering at RootsTech 2024,” Rockwood tells this year’s conference attendees that their work is about more than putting names on pedigree charts.

Rockwood said it didn’t matter what was missing from a family tree because FamilySearch and the RootsTech conference hope to help in any way possible to help those trees become complete.

“And that is why you’re here: to connect the world, to help people remember who they really are and what they stand for,” he said.
