Jimmer Fredette, a former BYU basketball star with many years of professional experience, is coming to RootsTech 2024.
Fredette and his wife, Whitney Fredette, will teach a beginner’s genealogy class — “Preserve Your Story Using FamilySearch” — with insights and practical tips on documenting the joy of family memories at Family Discovery Day on Saturday, March 2, FamilySearch announced in a Feb. 1 news release.
Following their class, some young attendees, ages 8-14, will be invited to test their basketball shooting skills against Jimmer Fredette. Participants will also have the opportunity to meet and get a photo with the Fredettes in the Expo Hall.
Jimmer Fredette, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was named college basketball’s Player of the Year following his senior season of “Jimmermania” at BYU. He was a lottery pick in the 2011 NBA draft and became an international superstar in China. He is now competing in the world of 3x3 professional basketball and preparing to play in the 2024 Paris Olympic games.
While he played basketball, Whitney Fredette was a BYU cheerleader. The couple was married in the Denver Colorado Temple in 2012.
