Groundbreaking of the Tulsa Oklahoma Temple

Ground was broken for the Tulsa Oklahoma Temple on Aug. 22, 2026, with Elder Pedro X. Larreal — a General Authority Seventy — presiding. He said that temple building strengthens communities, supports families, helps individuals build faith in Jesus Christ and prepares the earth for His Second Coming.

In his prayer dedicating the site, Elder Larreal asked that the temple “may serve as a light for everyone in this beautiful city of Tulsa, Oklahoma.” Elder Larreal added, “Please bless us so that Thy Spirit may be with us and with everyone involved in this project.”

Announced

Church President Russell M. Nelson announced a temple for Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Oct. 1, 2023, during October 2023 general conference. It was one of 20 temples announced at the conference — and the second for the Sooner State.

August

2026

Groundbreaking

A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Tulsa Oklahoma Temple on Aug. 22, 2026. Elder Pedro X. Larreal, General Authority Seventy, presided over the ceremony.

The Tulsa Oklahoma Temple was announced by Church President Russell M. Nelson on Oct. 1, 2023. Ground was broken for the temple on Aug. 22, 2026, with Elder Pedro X. Larreal presiding.

Architecture and Design of the Tulsa Oklahoma Temple

According to site plans released by the Church on Aug. 12, 2024, the Tulsa Oklahoma Temple will be a single-story building of approximately 29,600 square feet. The edifice will stand on a 25.7-acre site at the northwest corner of 51st Street and 136th East Avenue in Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma.
