Nine additional members have been called to the Young Men general advisory council, joining the five members who have served on the council since 2020. The general advisory council members work with the Young Men general presidency to help meet the needs of Young Men around the world.
The new members started their service on Jan. 18.
C. Michael Hansen
C. Michael Hansen, 64, Edgemont 14th Ward, Provo Utah Edgemont Stake. Born in Salt Lake City to Christen Maynard Hansen and Nancy Capener Evans Hansen and raised in southern California. Earned bachelor’s degrees in French and communications and a master’s degree in business administration from Brigham Young University. Worked in commercial real estate and university administration in southern California, followed by 20 years in Oregon with an international sports brand, where he held positions in strategic planning and sports marketing. Works an adjunct professor in marketing at the BYU Marriott School of Business. Married to Jeanne Stewart; four children. Served as a France Paris Mission president, high councilor, stake Young Men presidency counselor, bishop, ward Young Men president, Gospel Doctrine teacher, ward mission leader, institute teacher and full-time missionary in the France Toulouse Mission.
Paul M. Harman
Paul M. Harman, 67, Kimball Ward, Park City Utah Stake. Born in Tacoma, Washington, to Bobby Merrill Harman and Twila Doone Ivie Harman and raised on a dairy farm in Riverton, Utah. Earned a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and a law degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School. He worked as an attorney in Salt Lake City. Married to Susan Ann Brinton; three children. Serves with his wife as mission preparation teachers and is a former Brazil Santos Mission president, mission presidency counselor, stake presidency counselor, high councilor, bishop, elders quorum president, ward Young Men president, teachers quorum adviser and full-time missionary in the Brazil São Paulo North Mission.
Larry R. Laycock
Larry R. Laycock, 63, Alpine 3rd Ward, Alpine Utah West Stake. Born in American Fork, Utah, to Art J. Laycock and Nadine Roberts Laycock Attaway. Earned a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University, followed by a juris doctorate from the J. Reuben Clark School of Law. Serves on the board of directors at the law firm Dentons Durham Jones Pinegar, where he practices in the areas of intellectual property and complex litigation law. Married to Lisa Dawn Gleave; four children. Served as a Chile Santiago East Mission president, stake president, high councilor, ward and stake Young Men president, bishop, bishopric counselor and full-time missionary in the Argentina Buenos Aires South Mission.
Fernando Maluenda Mateluna
Fernando Maluenda Mateluna, 61, Highland 9th Ward, South Jordan Utah Highland Stake. Born in Santiago, Chile, to Julio del Carmen Maluenda and Ana Luisa de Maluenda Mateluna. Graduated as a civil engineer and earned master’s degrees from the University of Chile and Pontifical Catholic University of Chile in industrial engineering and business administration. Worked as director of planning and investments in ESSAN in a mining area in Antofagasta, Chile, and for the Church as an area distribution manager, area ICS manager, area planning manager, area physical facilities manager, director of temporal affairs, and planning director for the United States and Canada. Married to Priscila Ximena París Fredes de Maluenda; six children. Served as an Area Seventy, Texas McAllen Mission president, stake president, bishop and full-time missionary in the Washington Seattle Mission.
R. Todd Miner
R. Todd Miner, 53, Ensign Peak Ward, Salt Lake Stake. Born in Salt Lake City to Robert Thomas Miner and Suzanne Stewart Fjeldsted and raised in southern California. Earned a bachelor’s degree in computer science from University of California at Berkeley. Worked in technology consulting for several high-tech companies and IT support. Works for BYU–Pathway Worldwide. Married to Andrea Girand; three children. Served as a Cameroon Yaoundé Mission president, stake executive secretary, high councilor, bishop, scoutmaster and full-time missionary in the France Bordeaux mission.
J. Scott Nixon
J. Scott Nixon, 64, Orchard Grove Ward, Layton Utah Kays Creek Stake. Born in Provo, Utah, to Ezra John Nixon Jr. and Charlotte Macdonald Nixon and raised in Cache Valley, Utah. Earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting at Utah State University. Retired partner with PwC, an international professional services firm, and served on several corporate and nonprofit boards of directors. Married to Shiree Parker Nixon; four children. Served with his wife as assistant directors of Church Hosting and is a former Brazil Fortaleza East Mission president, high councilor, high priest group leader, MTC branch presidency member, ward Young Men president and adviser, and full-time missionary in the Portugal Lisbon Mission.
Robert B. Walker
Robert B. Walker, 60, Mueller Park 10th Ward, Bountiful Utah Mueller Park Stake. Born in Calgary, Alberta, to Robert Harris Walker and Barbara Amussen Benson Walker. Earned an undergraduate degree in international relations and a law degree, both from Brigham Young University, as well as a post-doctorate law degree in international banking law from Boston University. Founded and owns a commercial real estate development company. Married to Joni Nord; four children. Served as a Hawaii Honolulu Mission president, stake presidency counselor, bishop, ward executive secretary, elders quorum president, ward Young Men president, institute teacher and full-time missionary in the Switzerland Geneva Mission.
Mark J. Wiest
Mark J. Wiest, 65, Monument Park Ward, Salt Lake Monument Park Stake. He was born in Provo, Utah, to Clinton Bernard Wiest and Anna Aldous Smith. Earned a bachelor’s and a master’s of business administration from Brigham Young University. Worked for Bonneville International/KSL for 35 years. Served on the BYU Executive Alumni Board and as chair of the Kingsbury Hall Board. Married to Dana Cutler; four children. Serves with wife as assistant directors of Church VIP Hosting and is a former Mexico Veracruz Mission president, stake Young Men president, stake mission leader, bishop, bishopric counselor, elders quorum president, ward Young Men president, temple worker and full-time missionary in the Argentina Rosario Mission.
David J. Wunderli
David J. Wunderli, 62, Alpine 2nd Ward, Alpine Utah Stake. Born in Salt Lake City to Fredric Theodore Wunderli and Bernardine Lyman Wunderli. Earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah in accounting with a minor in Portuguese. Became a certified public accountant and worked as an executive at Easton Sports and president of OGIO International. Served on several corporate and philanthropic boards and is chairman of the board for ORI Inc. Married to Diane Robins; four children. Served as a Cape Verde Praia Mission president, YSA stake president, high councilor, YSA bishop, MTC branch presidency counselor, ward Young Men president, institute teacher and full-time missionary in the Brazil Rio de Janeiro Mission.
