During the week of Jan. 7 to Jan. 13, look at what senior Church leaders have said to young adults in the past year. Watch what Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said about scripture study in a Church News video. Elder Ulisses Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles spoke to missionaries about finding joy throughout their lives.

On the weekly Church News podcast, Sunday School General President Mark L. Pace and his counselors — Brother Milton Camargo and Brother Jan E. Newman — spoke about the 2024 “Come, Follow Me” curriculum and the Book of Mormon. The presidents of BYU, BYU–Idaho and BYU–Hawaii spoke at devotionals for the beginning of each school’s winter semester. Reservations for the open house of the Red Cliffs Utah Temple in St. George are available online, and exterior renderings for three temples have been released.

Some of the topics, counsel and promises given to the rising generation from senior Church leaders over the past year. Invitations included attending institute, knowing the truth and standing for it, and serving the Lord.

Daily study of the Book of Mormon can be compared to good nutrition, said Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in a Church News video. Just as eating nutritious meals every day is best for good physical health — as opposed to fasting for six days and then bingeing — good spiritual health requires daily scripture study.

3. Elder Soares offers 5 principles to help missionaries find joy — during their missions and after

Joy is one of the fruits of the Spirit, the nature and purpose of mortal life, and — according to the teachings of President Russell M. Nelson — the key to one’s spiritual survival.

With that definition of joy, Elder Ulisses Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shared five principles to help missionaries find joy — not only during their missions but throughout their lives — as he spoke in a Tuesday night, Jan. 9, devotional at the Provo Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah. The devotional was broadcast to all MTCs worldwide.

5. Three university presidents speak at devotionals

BYU–Idaho President Alvin F. Meredith spoke to students about “what would you like said about you at your funeral?”

“Becoming” and “doing” were major themes of Brigham Young University’s first devotional of the new winter semester, given on Jan. 9 by BYU President C. Shane Reese.

President Bruce C. Kusch, president of Ensign College, spoke to students about how seeking the gift of understanding “is what capable and trusted disciples of Jesus Christ do.”

Reservations to tour the Red Cliffs Utah Temple in St. George are available online. The public open house runs Thursday, Feb. 1, through Saturday, March 2, excluding Sundays.

The exterior renderings offer the first look at the Bakersfield California, Londrina Brazil and Ribeirão Preto Brazil temples.

Primary teachers are called to teach and to minister. Two families shared how they were blessed by Primary teachers’ ministering to a deaf 3-year-old and a busy 5-year-old.
