In social media post, President Eyring invites focus on the Savior through trials

‘We pass through our tests as we show that we remember the Savior and keep His commandments,’ says President Henry B. Eyring in a Jan. 3 social media post

President Henry B. Eyring, second counselor in the First Presidency, invited social media followers to remember the Savior and keep His commandments despite trials of life.

“The test a loving God has set before us is not to see if we can endure difficulty. It is to see if we can endure it well,” he wrote in a Jan. 3 social media post.

President Eyring quoted the “cherished and encouraging words” of 2 Nephi 31:20: “Ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. ... If ye shall press forward ... and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.”

This perfect brightness of hope comes by remembering Christ. “We pass through our tests as we show that we remember the Savior and keep His commandments through all the trials and opportunities in our lives.”

President Eyring concluded by testifying that “Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world. The Book of Mormon is a true and sure witness that He lives — that He is our resurrected and living Savior. I bear testimony that the assurance the Savior gave His disciples is sure for us, ‘I will not leave you comfortless’ (John 14:18).”

On New Year’s Day, Church President Russell M. Nelson encouraged Latter-day Saints via social media to attend the temple to draw closer to the Savior this year. The day after, President Dallin H. Oaks, first counselor in the First Presidency, invited individuals to look forward to Easter and remember the Savior’s Resurrection.
