This week on social: Elder Uchtdorf and Elder Soares post about temple dedications

Two Apostles speak of the power of temples, and other Church leaders share thoughts on general conference

On social media this week, Church leaders share experiences of dedicating temples, living gospel principles, and more.

Elder Jeffery R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles posted a heartfelt message about the passing of his wife, Sister Patricia Holland, and shared his testimony of God’s plan.

“I bear witness of the beauty of this plan and that all is well if we live for its promises,” posted Elder Holland.

When Relief Society General President Camille N. Johnson with her husband, Doug Johnson, and Elder Ian S. Ardern and his wife, Paula Ardern, went to northeastern Uganda they served the people as Elder Ardern spoke of during his October 2023 general conference talk.

Commenting on that experience Sister Johnson posted, “I was unprepared for the overwhelming feelings of love I felt for the people of Karamoja and for the hope I felt in spite of their circumstances.”

After dedicating the McAllen Texas Temple, Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shared, “In the temple, we experience many life-defining moments.” Look below to see the experiences he describes.

“My prayer for everyone associated with Brigham Young University–Idaho is that they may attain true and lasting conversion to Jesus Christ and His gospel,” said Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles following the inauguration of the new BYU–I president Alvin F. Meredith III.

Sister Kristin M. Yee, counselor in the Relief Society general presidency, shared how Jesus Christ helped her to develop her talents and share them with others.

“When we use our talents to bring happiness to others the Savior helps to grow our talents,” Sister Yee said.

“Tithing draws us closer to the Savior and blesses our lives forever,” posted Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. Elder Andersen continued by sharing an experience his family had with tithing.

Young Women General President Emily Belle Freeman and Sister Emily Darger Deans of the Young Women General Advisory Council, talked about the upcoming Worldwide Day of Testimony.

Elder Ulisses Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shared after the dedication of the Feather River California Temple, what the building of so many temples means.

“The building of this and all other temples around the world is truly an expression of our Heavenly Father’s love for His children. It is also a testimony that our Heavenly Father lives and cares about the eternal salvation of His sons and daughters everywhere.”

Recounting a visit she had with youth in Fiji, Sister Amy A. Wright shared a powerful insight about the youth of the Church, “the Holy Ghost witnessed to my heart and mind that they are not only the future, but they are also the NOW!”

The “For the Strength of Youth guide” booklet is now one year old and Brother Bradley R. Wilcox of the Young Men general presidency emphasized the reason for the booklet.

“This little booklet is making a difference all over the world. Why? Because it’s a book of rules? No, because it’s a book of reasons.”

Brother Milton Camargo of the Sunday School general presidency shared his experience of general conference and then asked the question, “how would you summarize your learnings and desires after this general conference?”

“Let us accept the Savior’s invitation and bring our children to Him. As we do so, they will see Him. They will feel Him. They will know Him,” Brother Jan E. Newman, first counselor of the Sunday School general presidency, said.

Brother Newman shared more about teacher council meetings for parents and what they can look like in wards and branches.
