Annual devotional ushers in the Christmas season in downtown Salt Lake City, features messages and peace, hope

Nearly 10,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gathered in downtown Salt Lake City for the annual First Presidency’s Christmas Devotional on Sunday evening, Dec. 4.

During the devotional, President Dallin H. Oaks, first counselor in the First Presidency; Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles; Elder José A. Teixeira of the Presidency of the Seventy; and Young Women General President Bonnie H. Cordon focused messages on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Christmas music was provided by the Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square.

While construction in the area is still limiting numbers that can attend an event in the Conference Center, the devotional was held with a large audience after being a broadcast-only event in December 2020 and a limited-audience event in December 2021.
