What Latter-day Saint parents and youth should know about FSY conferences in 2024

Church letter provides key dates, registration information and more for how to prepare for FSY 2024

After another successful year, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will hold more For the Strength of Youth conferences in 2024.

General information — including stake assignments, registration, frequently asked questions and other instructions — was sent in a letter dated Sept. 7 to local Church leaders in the United States and Canada.

“We encourage every eligible youth to participate and hope that parents and leaders will give high priority to preparing youth through stake FSY activities held before and after the conference,” the letter said. “We know this experience has the potential to bless the youth, their families and their classes and quorums.”

What Church leaders are saying about FSY

Hundreds of thousands of youth have been blessed by FSY in recent years. The Young Men general presidency hopes to see that trend continue in the years to come.

“FSY conferences have deepened the faith of over 400,000 youth during the just-completed two-year cycle,” said President Steven J. Lund, Young Men general president. “In future years, the number of youth being strengthened by FSY will only grow as we turn our attention to those who may be less than fully engaged and friends of other faiths. FSY is the perfect environment to find answers to questions and to discover peace in Christ.”

FSY gives youth a unique opportunity to recognize they are part of something bigger, said Young Women General President Emily Belle Freeman

“This is a week filled with fun and unique learning experiences meant to help youth discover their identity as a child of God and increase spiritual connection with Him. The program is designed to help them dive into scripture, expand friendships, and receive influence from YSA mentors in a way they haven’t before,” she said.

“It is something we want every youth to experience, worldwide. It’s a huge undertaking, but it has proven its worth as we have watched the strength of youth increase in powerful ways.”

What is FSY?

FSY is a large, five-day event that includes devotionals, classes and activities designed to help strengthen faith in Jesus Christ and help youth have fun as they learn to apply the gospel in all aspects of their lives. FSY is modeled after Brigham Young University’s Especially for Youth program and has been held internationally for more than 15 years.

At FSY, youth will associate with other youth who share their beliefs, learn to receive revelation and answers from the scriptures, and be mentored by young single adult counselors who teach and encourage them in gospel living, engage in activities that will bolster their self-esteem and increase their confidence.
