Groundbreaking of the Victoria British Columbia Temple
Ground was broken for the Victoria British Columbia Temple on Aug. 22, 2026, with Elder James E. Evanson — a General Authority Seventy and counselor in the Canada Area presidency — presiding. He said the Victoria temple “will bring a spirit of peace, devotion, compassion and joy into this community, and it will influence everyone’s lives simply for the better.”
Elder Evanson promised that those who see this temple being built will start to see something change in their neighborhood. “It will become a beacon of peace and a place where we can know that there is a God in heaven who loves us and that we are all His children.”

The Victoria British Columbia Temple was announced by President Nelson on April 7, 2024. Ground was broken for the temple on Aug. 22, 2026, with Elder James E. Evanson presiding.
Architecture and Design of the Victoria British Columbia Temple
According to site plans released by the Church on June 22, 2026, the Victoria British Columbia Temple will be a single-story building of approximately 11,400 square feet. The edifice will stand on a 4.7-acre site located along Mantle Heights Road, Langford, British Columbia. An accompanying patron waiting area will also be built.
