Holy Week on social: Church leaders look forward to Easter with Christ as the center of it all

In social media posts, President Oaks says all mankind may be resurrected, and President Eyring says, ‘Jesus is the risen Christ’

President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released a special video on Palm Sunday to mark the beginning of Holy Week. In the video, he speaks of the forgiveness the Savior offered while still on the cross and encourages individuals to forgive others, as well.

President Dallin H. Oaks, first counselor in the First Presidency, posted on April 6 about Easter. He said, “Because of the resurrection of the Holy One of Israel, we believe in the literal, universal resurrection of all mankind.”

President Henry B. Eyring, second counselor in the First Presidency, testified on April 2 of Jesus Christ and His resurrection. He said, “Jesus is the risen Christ, our Savior, and our perfect example and guide to eternal life.”

Relief Society General President Camille N. Johnson posted on Instagram and shared the definition of “relief” on April 5. She said, “Jesus Christ is relief.”

On April 3, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles tweeted, “Jesus Christ has walked alone once.” He continued, “Now, may I ask that never again will He have to confront sin without our aid and assistance, that never again will He find only unresponsive onlookers when He sees you and me along His Via Dolorosa in our present day.”

Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles posted on Facebook on April 7. “Our Father in Heaven loves us,” he said. “His love is especially evident as we remember the sacrifice and Resurrection of His Son during this Holy Week.”

On April 2, Sister Kristin M. Yee of the Relief Society general presidency posted on Instagram. “[Jesus Christ] knows the details of all our feelings, concerns, heartaches, and happiness,” she said. “And He knows how to intimately succor and heal.”

On Easter Sunday, Elder David A. Bednar posted an image of a sculpture of the Savior with the words found in Moroni 7:41.

Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles tweeted, “All that is unfair about life can be made right through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.” He encouraged all to rely on the Savior.

On Instagram, Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, on April 2, posted about Palm Sunday and Holy Week. “As followers of Jesus Christ, we are invited by Him to be one,” he wrote. “Becoming one is a recurring theme in the gospel of Jesus Christ and in God’s dealings with His children.”

Again on Instagram, Elder Christofferson on April 4 encouraged all to remember that Jesus Christ is the Redeemer “in every sense of the word.”

Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles bore his testimony of Jesus Christ on April 7. “I witness the complete and absolute truth of the Savior’s incomparable atoning sacrifice and of His glorious Resurrection,” he tweeted.

On April 2, Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles posted about Palm Sunday. “Nearly two thousand years ago, Palm Sunday marked the triumphant entry into Jerusalem and the beginning of the last week of the mortal ministry of Jesus Christ.” He continued to share information about the day.

In a post on Saturday, April 8, Elder Rasband also shared four doctrines woven throughout the Savior’s ministry.

Elder Gary E. Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles posted a video on Instagram on April 5 about Easter. “Jesus Christ is our Savior and our Redeemer, the Son of the Living God. In Him, we will find joy this Easter season,” he said.

On April 5, Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles tweeted, “As we think about what our Savior did for us during the week preceding Easter, I invite each of you to fill your souls with the knowledge that Jesus loves you, He has confidence in you, and you can have confidence in Him.”

“The promise at Easter — and always — is that in and through Jesus Christ, our families can become happy and forever. In all our generations, Jesus Christ heals the brokenhearted, delivers the captives and sets at liberty them that are bruised,” said Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. On April 6 on Facebook, he invited all to come unto Christ.

On April 7, he posted about Good Friday. “With gratitude,” he said, “I testify of our Savior Jesus Christ, of His divine life and ministry, of His Atonement and resurrection.”
