Missoula Montana Temple

Groundbreaking of the Missoula Montana Temple

Ground was broken for the Missoula Montana Temple on June 6, 2026, with Elder José A. Teixeira — a General Authority Seventy and president of the Church’s United States Central Area — presiding. He both spoke and offered a dedicatory prayer on the temple site and the sacred edifice’s construction.

“May this temple that will be built here stand as a beacon of light and truth to the youth of Thy Church,” Elder Teixeira prayed. “May they come to know the Savior more deeply within these sacred walls.”

According to site plans released by the Church on Nov. 4, 2024, the Missoula Montana Temple will be a single-story building of approximately 19,000 square feet. The edifice will stand on a 5.08-acre site at the corner of Old Bitterroot Road and Lower Miller Creek Road, Missoula, Montana. An ancillary building will also be built on the site.

Architectural renderings of the house of the Lord show a gray exterior surrounded by rectangular windows and an arched entryway. A multilevel tower with metallic dome stands above the center of the building. Trees and flower gardens will adorn the grounds.
