This past week on social media, leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints shared about the blessings of having covenant connections with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, especially emphasizing their love and testimonies of the family.
Church President Dallin H. Oaks shared this Aug. 2 post with a clip from his October 2024 general conference remarks, using an allegory of a kite string to illustrate how the commandments provide connection to God.
“The commandments of God provide the guiding and steadying force in our lives. As we honor covenants by keeping God’s commandments, His promised blessings enable us to soar to celestial heights.”
Sharing a picture of herself beside a Ugandan woman, Relief Society General President Camille N. Johnson shared this Aug. 2 post stating that although global humanitarian needs can feel overwhelming, “we tackle it one mother, one child, one family, one kind act at a time.”
In her caption, she continued: “Seeing it through that lens keeps me optimistic. The challenges are big; the opportunities are even bigger.”
In an Aug. 3 post, Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shared a video clip from new Sunday School instructional materials that include a discussion between him and Elder Patrick Kearon of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
“The partaking of the bread and the water does not remit sins. It is the Lord Jesus Christ who forgives us of sin as we repent and come unto Him.”
President Rosemary K. Chibota, in her first social media video as the new Primary general president, posted on Aug. 2: “I am feeling a little overwhelmed by the call, but I am also humbled by it.”
In the same video were the new general presidency first counselor, Sister Nina M. Garfield, and second counselor, Sister Theresa A. Collins, who shared their testimonies. “I think it’s so important that children have the opportunity to go to church,” said Sister Garfield.
Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles recognized the difficulty of balancing faith with other necessary pursuits and offered three principles to better prioritize faith in Jesus Christ, in this Aug. 5 post.
Among the other principles given, Elder Cook counseled to “live so that the Atonement of Jesus Christ can be fully efficacious in your life. Because of the Atonement, mercy can prevail for those who have repented and allow them to return to the presence of God.”
There is a Father in Heaven, and “we are His children,” said Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles in this Aug. 2 post.
“In His infinite wisdom and compassion, the Lord answers across the needs, hopes and circumstances of our lives in His time and way.”
Young Women General President Emily Belle Freeman sat with first counselor, Sister Tamara W. Runia, and second counselor, Sister Andrea Muñoz Spannaus, in this Aug. 2 video and shared insights from “For The Strength of Youth: A Guide to Making Choices.”
President Freeman shared the story of a young man who stood up for his belief in the Bible when other young men his age were tearing its pages out of the binding and throwing them onto the floor. “Sometimes, you show that you value truth as you bravely stand for what you know is right, even if you have to stand alone,” she read from “For The Strength of Youth.”
Reflecting on the life of his late mother, Elder Ulisses Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shared his testimony of the Savior’s triumph over death in this Aug. 7 post.
“Although this tender experience reminded me of the sorrow of temporary separation caused by death, it also strengthened my testimony of the glorious reality of the Resurrection. I know that through Jesus Christ my mother’s mortal remains will one day be reunited with her spirit in a perfected and immortal body.”
Elder Gérald Caussé of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shared this Aug. 3 post celebrating 40 years of marriage with his wife, Sister Valérie Caussé.
“I can still remember the excitement and sweet feelings we shared as we began dating. Very quickly, we knew we were meant for one another — not just for this life, but for all eternity.”
Posting on Aug. 5 about the importance of family, Elder Clark G. Gilbert of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shared his thoughts on prioritizing time with loved ones.
“Despite all the demands tied to my new calling, preserving time to be a husband and a father remains an absolutely important part of my life. As Christine and I gear up for what will be a very busy fall schedule, we’re so grateful we had time together with our family this summer.”
