Plus bonus videos from BYUtv highlight how to share light and use a Giving Machine

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has created eight short videos this Christmas as part of the Light the World initiative, “Let Your Light Shine.”

The videos can be found on the Come Unto Christ YouTube channel, are available for download at and are being shared all this month on official Church social media accounts.

The videos tell the story of how seemingly simple acts of kindness bless other people’s lives as they go about their days. The words, “Someone needs your light,” appear on the screen.

A Light the World playlist on the Church’s YouTube channel features videos from previous years’ initiatives and other Christmas messages. Another YouTube playlist from the Church is titled, #LightTheWorld Social Sing and Serve.

2023 Giving Machines videos

The Church is telling the story of where Giving Machines donations go — and how they help people in need around the world — through a series of videos called, “A Giving Machine Story.”

These videos were filmed in Mexico, Jordan, Ukraine and Kenya and show how children, families and individuals were blessed by the donations of chickens, goats, seeds, mentorships, tuition fees and other donations.

They can be viewed at or on the Church’s Come Unto Christ YouTube channel and have been shared in November and December on the Church’s social media accounts.

Bonus Giving Machine and Light the World videos from BYUtv

Studio C, a comedy show from BYUtv, put together a skit about Giving Machines on a recent episode. In it, Garet and Kiri look to purchase something from a Giving Machine but Dalton tries to sell them chickens and other items he has hidden in his coat.

Other BYUtv shows also featured the Light the World campaign and ways to Light the World on recent episodes of Relative Race, The Fixers, The Wizard of Paws, Random Acts, Artful and Making Good.
