This week on social media, Church leaders posted about a significant anniversary, temple dedications, and the joy of repentance and relief.
President Russell M. Nelson posted Sept. 21, on the 200th anniversary of the angel Moroni’s visit to the Prophet Joseph Smith, about the coming forth of the Book of Mormon and the impact it has had. President Nelson asked: “What is this book worth to you? If you were offered diamonds and rubies or the Book of Mormon, which would you choose?”
On Sept. 17, President M. Russell Ballard, Acting President of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, spoke of the growth that comes through sincere repentance. “Great joy results when we experience true repentance by confessing and forsaking.”
Speaking of Alma’s people in the Book of Mormon, “Providing relief is a way we keep covenants,” said Relief Society General President Camille N. Johnson on Sept. 21.
After the dedication of the Bentonville Arkansas Temple on Sept. 17, Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles posted on the privilege of living in an area of so many temples. “We are blessed to witness and participate in the ongoing fulfillment of prophecies that holy houses of the Lord will dot the earth.”
Elder Bednar wasn’t the only one posting about a temple dedication. “Everything that we do in temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints point to Jesus Christ as the Savior of the world,” said Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles on Sept. 18, one day after the dedication of the Moses Lake Washington Temple.
The Young Women organization posted four things to do in preparation for the upcoming October 2023 general conference.
Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles posted on the opportunity, with President Dallin H. Oaks of the First Presidency, to install C. Shane Reese as the 14th president of BYU.
“[President Reese] and his wife Wendy have tremendously willing and consecrated hearts, and with that, the Lord will magnify them in this assignment,” said Elder Christofferson.
The power of the temple was the focus of Elder Neil L. Andersen’s post on Sept 17 after he dedicated the Brasilia Brazil Temple. “The Lord’s house is a sacred place between heaven and earth where we better come to know our Father and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ.”
Elder Gary E. Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles posted a video with the caption, “May I today, on this 200th anniversary of the revealing of the existence of the gold plates that became @thebookofmormon, add my testimony that The Book of Mormon is the word of God.”
