See photos of the Tabernacle Choir, orchestra’s music video shoot in Mexico

TOLUCA, Mexico — At about 5:30 a.m.as the first rays of sunlight began lighting the sky, 10 buses filled with members of The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, Orchestra at Temple Square and support staff headed to Toluca, Mexico, about 64 kilometers (40 miles) southwest of Mexico City. 

The choir and orchestra members were at three locations in this capital city of the state of Mexico on Wednesday, June 14, as crews filmed them for a music video to be part of their two concerts at the National Auditorium on June 17-18. The choir was last in Mexico in 1972.

Groups were at the Cathedral of Toluca, the nearby Plaza de los Mártires and the Cosmovitral Botanical Garden. The ornate cathedral took 111 years to build, from 1867 to 1978.

The botanical gardens feature stained glass windows that wrap around the gardens that includes desert cacti, a variety of trees, ponds with lily pads and fish, among a variety of other plants and flowers. 

The choir and orchestra will be back at the Cathedral of Toluca on Thursday, June 15, for a sacred music concert. 

Toluca is also the site for one of four temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints near Mexico City that President Russell M. Nelson announced in the October 2022 general conference.

The Tabernacle Choir and orchestra members arrived Tuesday, June 13, in Mexico City for the first stop of a multiyear tour to spread hope through music.
