He was born in São Paulo, Brazil, to Fernando Barreto and Cleonice de Souza Barreto.

Sister Barreto is a Primary pianist and ward music leader and a former mission president companion; stake Relief Society presidency counselor; ward Relief Society, Young Women and Primary president; and temple ordinance worker. She was born in Campinas, Brazil, to Orlando Alberto Caverni and Leda Meneghesso Caverni.
